Vacature Project Engineer

TRIDEC is an international market leader in steering systems for heavy-duty trailers, developing advanced mechanical, hydraulic and electronic steering and suspension solutions that improve vehicle efficiency, maneuverability and sustainability. As Project Engineer, you are responsible for coordinating technical R&D projects across the full development cycle, from concept and product requirements to industrialization and production. You work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Production and international stakeholders, ensuring alignment across departments while safeguarding planning, quality, documentation and progress across multiple projects.

The role involves a broad range of projects, from product improvements and system upgrades to the development of new steering solutions for heavy-duty trailer applications. You operate in a hands-on, dynamic environment where ownership, initiative and collaboration are key, and where you actively contribute to improving structure, coordination and communication within the engineering organization.

You bring a technical background (preferably Mechanical or Automotive Engineering), several years of experience in engineering or technical project environments, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities. You are proactive, pragmatic and comfortable working in an international setting with short communication lines and a high level of responsibility.

The position is primarily office-based, with occasional international travel to support collaboration with colleagues, suppliers and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate mechanical R&D projects throughout the full development cycle, from concept phase to industrialization and start of production;
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, R&D, Mechanical Engineering and international stakeholders in the Netherlands and Portugal;
• Align activities between departments such as Engineering, Production Engineering, Purchasing, Quality and Production;
• Maintain oversight of project planning, documentation, milestones, quality and progress across multiple ongoing projects;
• Translate market, product and business requirements into technical project activities;
• Identify risks, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities and take proactive action where needed;
• Contribute to improving project structure, coordination and communication within a dynamic and fast-changing engineering environment.

Requirements:

• A completed technical education at bachelor’s level or equivalent mindset, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related technical field;
• 4–10 years of experience in technical projects or engineering environments;
• Affinity with or experience in project management within a technical or manufacturing environment;
• Affinity with mechanical systems and hydraulics;
• Understanding of NPI (New Product Introduction) processes is an advantage;
• Strong ability to understand and work with technical documentation and engineering processes;
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities simultaneously;
• Experience in the heavy-duty vehicle, trailer or automotive industry is considered a strong advantage;
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken (Dutch, Portuguese or German is considered a plus);
• Experience with CAD, ERP or PLM systems is considered a plus;
• A pragmatic, goal-oriented and hands-on mindset with a proactive and collaborative attitude.
