ASSISTANT BREEDER

Full-time (40 hours) – MBO – Dwarsweg 15, De Kwakel

What will you do?

As an Assistant Breeder, you will support the breeders of the cut gerbera crop group within our organization. You’ll spend most of your time in the greenhouse, where your green thumb will be put to good use in breeding-support tasks.

You will work closely with our breeding plants. This includes physical tasks, collecting data, and performing fine-tuned activities such as crossing and seed harvesting. You can work independently but also supervise small groups of temporary workers during peak seasons.

In addition, you will receive excellent primary and secondary employment conditions, such as:

• This position is classified in scale E of the Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) for Greenhouse Horticulture (€2,618.70 - €3,201.60 gross per month). The exact level will depend on your knowledge and experience;
• A full-time role (40 hours per week);
• Employment conditions in line with the CAO for Greenhouse Horticulture;
• 25.5 vacation days on a full-time basis, with the option to purchase an additional 7 days (on a full-time basis);
• A one-year contract, followed by a permanent contract upon satisfactory performance;
• Participation in the pension fund for Greenhouse Horticulture (BPL);
• Travel expense reimbursement.

What do we ask of you?

You are a practical MBO graduate ready for your second or third career step. You have a green thumb and enjoy getting your hands dirty. You thrive on diverse tasks and can easily switch between activities. You take initiative and recognize when work needs to be done. While you are capable of working independently, you also value teamwork.

Additionally, you have:

• A completed MBO-level education in a “green” field (biology, agriculture, horticulture);
• Preferably experience working in greenhouses, with breeding experience being a plus.

Performing spraying tasks is part of this role.
