Rotterdam Area

Our sites in the Rotterdam port area belong to the Product Solutions division of ExxonMobil. With the latest technology and innovations, we are always working to renew and make our sites and products more sustainable. We manufacture base products for all kinds of daily products that you encounter in, for example, (electric) cars, hospitals, construction sites and windmills. The best-known brand names of our products are Esso, Mobil and Mobil1.

• The refinery is integrated with the aromatics plant and is one of the most modern and efficient of its kind. The refinery processes various types of crude oil into chemical raw materials, fuels (petrol, kerosene, LPG and diesel) and high-quality base oils (basestocks) for lubricants.
• The aromatics plant is one of the largest aromatics producers in the world. The plant is integrated with the refinery, resulting in significant energy and cost savings. We encounter aromatics in, for example, PET bottles and Styrofoam, in electrical (kitchen) equipment, car parts, sports shoes and synthetic fibers and resins.
• The oxo alcohol plant is the largest producer of plasticizers in Europe. Plasticizers can be used to make 'hard' plastic soft and pliable. They are used to give flexibility to products such as cables, textiles, floor coverings, furniture and footwear.
• The lubricating oil mixing plant in Pernis mixes base oils and additives (additives) into various lubricants. The products vary from solid motor oil to super-refined lubricants, intended for (electric) cars, aircraft and ships, but also for industrial machines and wind turbines.

What role you will play in our team

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the Engineering Services team at the ExxonMobil Rotterdam Manufacturing Site (refinery and chemical plants). The Rotterdam Engineering Services Team is responsible for all equipment on the ExxonMobil Rotterdam Manufacturing Site, with a special focus on safety, regulations, reliability and improvements.

Within the Engineering Services Team the Electrical Engineers play a vital role in the successful operations and long-term reliability of the Rotterdam Manufacturing Site. Across the Rotterdam Manufacturing Site, electricity is distributed via transformers and a network of cables at different voltage levels from 150kV, 33kV, 25kV, 6.9kV, 3kV down to low voltage. Typical electrical equipment at site includes, but is not limited to, transformers, switchgear(HV/LV) , a-synchronous motors as well synchronous motors, VSD systems, UPS systems, back-up generators and a GTG.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will work in our highly skilled team and will be responsible for day-to-day technical engineering support to our Maintenance and Business teams as well as long term activities such as preparing major electrical activities and equipment strategy work. You will be involved in different site projects and will give support and engineering surveillance to ensure consistency with specifications and guidelines.

What you will do

Key responsibilities of an Electrical Engineer include:

• Maintain a defined level of reliability performance of our assets by providing day to day support, troubleshooting and recommendations, to Operations and Maintenance on electrical malfunctions and deficiencies
• Drive asset improvement in the areas of: reliability, regulatory compliance, safety and environmental performance. This includes keeping our long term equipment strategies and site wide Preventive Maintenance program up-to-date, and support Maintenance with management of spare parts requests/stocking levels for electrical equipment.
• Develop annual maintenance plans and turnaround scopes, participate in reviews at our site and in the EU region.
• Perform in-depth root cause failure analysis on electrical equipment on request.
• Provide support of projects in the areas of concept selection, design consulting, safety reviews, Technical Quality Assurance, commissioning and start-up assistance.
• Documentation of changes, lessons learnt and actions taken to improve towards the future.
• Develop and maintain technical standards and guidelines.
• Support site in application of new technologies.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc, or Msc).
• Preferably 5+ years professional experience – within an operating company (petrochemical, other heavy industry, a power company, or a network operator), a consultant engineering company, or an electrical equipment manufacturer.
• Good general knowledge of major electrical equipment: switchgear, transformers, cables, motors.
• Working knowledge of industry standards for electrical equipment, ATEX, and other NL or EU regulations.
• Field experience in the manufacturing, commissioning and trouble shooting of electrical systems.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Preferably Dutch speaking, good knowledge of English
