The Rozenburg plant was started in 2014 and produces vegetable fatty alcohols and derivatives by hydrogenation of methyl esters. Fatty alcohols are used as a raw material for surfactant components mainly used in detergents and household & personal care products.

Due to the retirement of our present HSEQ manager, we are currently looking for a self-starting and hands-on:

HSEQ Manager

In this position you will lead the HSEQ team (2 direct reports) in supporting the site for a safe and compliant operation of the Wilmar Europe activities. The purpose of the position is to lead the HSEQ team in supporting existing and new production site(s) and 3rd party sites in operating in a safe and healthy way ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. This includes process safety, road transport  & marine safety. You will report to the Plant Manager and will be part of the Site management team.

The position is based on our plant in Rozenburg (Rotterdam Botlek).

Responsibilities

• Ensure sustained compliance towards applicable rules & regulations (Seveso, WABO, ADN, ADR…. etc.)
• Pro-actively advise operational departments on safety behavior
• Safeguard process safety in the plant
• Help build a proactive and caring HSEQ culture and promote health and safety in business decisions
• Develop and coordinate the annual HSEQ action plan and longer term HSEQ roadmap
• Take the lead for the safety/compliance part of new investments and provide support in handling HSEQ aspects of growth initiatives
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001/FSSC and other applicable standards
• Organize and perform internal and external audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
• Continuously improve the HSEQ management system and assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards
• Investigate and report on incident/accidents and ensure all documentation is updated and provide support and expertise to line management
• Facilitate all forms of risk assessment and act as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site
• Conduct occupational health and safety related surveys e.g. noise, exposure to chemical substances and make associated recommendations
• Build constructive relationships with regulatory bodies
• When required support with HSEQ management of tolling manufacturers and other service providers.
• Lead the professional development and performance of the team

Requirements

• Bachelor/master’s degree in relevant technical direction with a HVK or similar addition
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a SEVESO company
• Good working knowledge and appreciation of HSE rules and standards (ARBO-wet, SEVESO, ADN, ADR, WABO, ISGOTT, …)
• Experienced in process safety management
• Good communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders (DCMR, ISZW, PoR, Fire brigade, neighbors, Wilmar corporate)
• Hands on mentality
• Willing to occasionally travel abroad to support Wilmar Europe operations on HSEQ matters (new projects, tolling partners, JV sites)
