To achieve this successfully, we are always looking for enthusiastic colleagues for our head office and production location in Zwijndrecht.

What will you do?

As a technical business development officer, you focus on creating opportunities with current product portfolio and identify new product developments based on market inputs. You will work heavily with the Product Development (PD) Manager to learn about our existing products and identify areas where we can maximise the benefits of our current product portfolio from the customers’ perspective. You will also work alongside the Sales Manager to meet and convert prospects. In addition, you will be responsible for translating insights from market research, visits to prospects/customers and exhibition attendances into potential commercial possibilities – whether it is a new market we have to approach or initiating product development projects with relevant business cases.

Your main tasks and responsibilities are: 

• Analyse external insights/challenges in the market (through independent research, competitor news, visits to prospects with Sales Manager and attending exhibitions) and translates them into actionable technical projects.
• Propose new market segments/customers to approach based on knowledge of current product portfolio and supports Sales Manager in converting prospects into customers.
• Design lab experiments/trial production runs/application studies with a commercial objective, internally or at customers’ sites, together with PD Manager.
• Analyse performance of products and production processes and initiates improvement plans with PD Manager and Ops Supervisor.

What do you have to offer as a Technical Business Development?

It is important that you have good communicative skills, work independently and have very good numerical and analytical prowess. You have excellent communication skills in English.
Knowledge of Dutch or German or French language is an advantage.

• Bachelor’s degree in food technology/chemistry, with minimum 3 years of work experience in technical sales, technical business development or product development role;
• Relevant work experience in the confectionery, nutraceutical or emulsifier industry is preferred;
• Your workplace is at our site in Zwijndrecht.
